This role is pivotal in shaping and advancing a unified design system that supports multiple products and teams. The successful candidate will design reusable UI components, ensure consistency across user interfaces, and collaborate closely with engineering to maintain seamless integration between design and code. Working in a dynamic, cross-functional environment, this position offers the chance to influence product quality and user experience on a broad scale, driving accessibility and design innovation.
Accountabilities: Extend and refine the existing design system to meet evolving product requirements. Design, document, and manage reusable UI components and patterns, ensuring consistency and quality. Identify inconsistencies across products and propose scalable system-level solutions. Maintain and scale a shared design library, coordinating with engineering to align design and front-end implementations. Ensure all components comply with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA or higher). Lead end-to-end design processes for new components, including handoff to engineering and quality assurance. Advocate for design system adoption and maintain governance and change management practices. Requirements
Proficiency in design tools, especially Figma, with experience building component libraries using auto-layout, variants, tokens, and constraints. Familiarity with design system frameworks such as Storybook. Strong understanding of front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, design tokens, and component frameworks like React. Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles. Excellent visual and interaction design skills. Strong communication and documentation capabilities. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field preferred. 3 to 5+ years of product design experience, including 1 to 2 years focused on design systems. Experience working in agile or lean cross-functional product teams. Prior experience in EdTech or related industries is a plus. Proven track record collaborating closely with engineering on customer-facing products. Benefits
