Position Summary

We are seeking a seasoned and forward-thinking Construction Manager (CM) to serve as a technical leader on construction sites. You will provide advanced construction oversight, oversee multiple field teams, and lead the resolution of complex construction challenges. The CM works closely with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and timely execution. You will influence design and construction decisions, manage inspection strategies, and drive best practices in safety, quality, and productivity.

The CM will oversee on-site construction activities for a large-scale terminal expansion and air traffic control tower (ATCT) build at a regional airport. This position serves as the owner's representative superintendent, embedded within the project management team to act as the client's eyes and ears on-site, ensuring that the General Contractor adheres to all project requirements. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager (SPM), the CM role involves verifying compliance with project specifications, contractual obligations, and scheduled timelines, with oversight across all construction trades and subcontractors. While this role will primarily include standard day shifts, some construction activities may occasionally require night or weekend work.

Organizational Responsibilities Oversee all field activities for large or complex construction projects. Ensuring adherence to project specifications, quality standards, and schedules. Develops and enforces site quality control plans and leads issue resolution meetings. Manage site logistics and conduct site inspections to ensure safety and building regulations compliance. Review ongoing work to confirm adherence to design, material, and quality specifications, promptly addressing any deviations. Coordinate with the Owner, architect, engineers, and contractor to resolve design and construction issues. Coordinate with GC and subcontractors site personnel to maintain schedule alignment, reporting potential delays or issues to the SPM. Provides solutions to high-impact field problems. Advises on construction means and methods and supports value engineering efforts. Oversees the performance of field consultants, testing agencies, and inspection teams. Collaborates with project managers to align field activities with cost and schedule targets. Prepares field activity reports, safety logs, material tracking records, and executive summaries with recommendations. Review GC payment application requests and assist SPM in forecasting activities. Review GC Schedule submissions. Assist SPM in analyzing the GC schedules and alerting the client of schedule risks. Assist in report preparation, tracking project progress, and variances. Assist SPM in identifying, tracking, and managing Risk and Opportunity Matrices. Support change management tasks, dispute resolution, and claims avoidance. Manager labor compliance and DBE/SBE program requirements. Maintain program documentation and ensure document control across systems. Support procurement efforts and vendor contract negotiations. Respond to RFI's, clarification requests, submittals, samples, and shop drawings. Leads construction safety and environmental compliance programs in the field. Serves as primary point of contact for technical issues with clients and regulatory agencies. Coordinate construction interfaces among contractors, clients, tenants, AHJs, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders. Oversee utility shutdowns and impact analysis. Support the implementation of Commissioning (Cx) and Operational Readiness, Activation, and Transfer (ORAT) planning and execution. Administer project closeout activities, including punch lists, testing, commissioning, and documentation. Adjust to varying project needs, including working flexible shifts and weekends, to support critical project timelines. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Bachelor's or master's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related technical field. 9+ years of experience managing complex field engineering or construction oversight activities, with a minimum of 5+ years of aviation experience. Expertise in construction planning, means and methods, field change management, and risk assessment. Strong leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating multiple subcontractors or field teams. Advanced proficiency in construction software, digital inspection tools, BIM platforms, and QA/QC systems. Deep knowledge of building codes, regulatory compliance, and environmental standards. Experience developing safety and quality management plans and ensuring field enforcement. Skilled in stakeholder engagement and negotiation with owners, contractors, and regulatory agencies. Demonstrated ability to drive field execution strategy in alignment with overall project goals. Track record of mentoring field staff and contributing to training and development initiatives.

$120,600 - $142,900 a year

Additional Requirements

Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.

Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.
