Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary :
The Social Media Coordinator is the voice behind the Department of Commerces online presencelead coordinator for crafting content, growing community engagement, and boosting our visibility across Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. In this dynamic role, youll shape the agencys brand through strategic planning, trendspotting, and data-driven content. Youll also contribute to broader communications efforts by helping develop news releases, speeches, newsletters, and more. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office is a mustwe're looking for someone who can bring ideas to life and turn followers into advocates.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following :
Lead the coordination of social media activities for the Department of Commerce Marketing and Communications Division
Writing, developing, teaching, managing and analyzing the departments social media presence on all relevant platforms.
Research and present new ideas focused on the organizations target audiences.
Monitor and share relevant trends and successes-Knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn
Assist in designing, writing, producing, and distributing communication materials such as news releases, speeches, feature articles, newsletters, talking points, and presentations.
Recognize and implement new communication methods, optimize existing tools, and create greater engagement among businesses, the public, and other key stakeholders.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field.
One year of experience with proven success in social media, marketing, and / or communications with a public or private organization or agency.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written; strategic thinker and leadership skills; successful candidate will be articulate, organized, detail-oriented, creative, assertive, dependable, and good at multi-tasking.
Must have a valid drivers license and the ability to travel.
Preferred Qualifications :
Two years experience in multi-platform content creation that includes written and visual presentations.
Experience working in an economic development setting or working knowledge of economic development.
