About the Job :
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented
Database Administrator (DBA) and Network Security Administrator
to manage and secure our SQL Server databases and Microsoft-based network infrastructure. This dual-role position is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and security of our databases, while also maintaining robust network security measures to protect company data and systems from cyber threats. Key Responsibilities: Database Administration (SQL Server): Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Microsoft SQL Server databases. Design and optimize database architecture for performance, scalability, and security. Perform database backups, restores, disaster recovery planning, and failover testing. Implement and enforce database security best practices, including user roles and permissions. Monitor and tune SQL performance, indexes, and query optimization. Manage database replication, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies. Develop and maintain stored procedures, triggers, and scripts for automation and optimization. Work with developers to support application database requirements and troubleshoot performance issues. Network Security Administration: Implement, manage, and monitor network security policies and firewalls to prevent unauthorized access. Maintain security configurations for Microsoft Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and system hardening. Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate risks. Manage and monitor network infrastructure, including VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions. Respond to security incidents, investigate breaches, and implement corrective actions. Ensure compliance with cybersecurity frameworks and best practices (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISO 27001). Monitor system logs, alerts, and network traffic for signs of security threats or anomalies. Implement security patches, updates, and antivirus measures across the IT infrastructure. Train staff on cybersecurity awareness and best practices. Qualifications and Requirements: Education:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience). Experience:
3+ years of experience in database administration and network security, preferably in a Microsoft environment. Technical Skills: Expertise in
Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022)
and database management. Proficiency in
T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, and performance tuning . Experience with
SQL Server Always On, clustering, and replication . Strong knowledge of
Microsoft Windows Server (2016/2019/2022)
administration. Hands-on experience with
Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs . Knowledge of
firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection solutions . Familiarity with
PowerShell scripting
for automation and security hardening. Understanding of
cloud security best practices (Azure, AWS, or hybrid environments) . Experience with
SIEM tools, vulnerability management, and cybersecurity frameworks . Preferred Certifications (Not Required, but a Plus): Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals CompTIA Security+ or CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or other cybersecurity certifications Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize security tasks effectively.
