Position Overview:
The Student Assistant supports the Academic Librarian by providing front-line assistance at the Library Information Desk, primarily on Saturdays. This role involves managing book check-ins and check-outs, assisting students and faculty with library resources, and performing other related duties as assigned. The ideal candidate is reliable, customer-service oriented, proficient with basic office software, and committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming library environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Staff the Library Information Desk on Saturdays, tentatively from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Check in and check out books. Provide assistance in using the library resources to SFBU students and faculty. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be punctual and reliable. Commitment to excellent customer service. Maintain a professional and welcoming presence. Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and Google Docs. Demonstrated strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice. Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Currently enrolled as a full-time student at SFBU (undergraduate or graduate level). Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Job duties are typically performed in an office environment. Physical demands may include lifting up to 20 lbs, bending, and sitting. The employee is occasionally required to sit or stand for long periods.
Salary Range
:
$18 - $22 an hour, depending on experience.
