Tool Room Technician

(2nd shift) - North Vernon, Indiana Possible contract-to-hire position (up to 12 month contract position Max. pay rate: $22.59 per hour 2nd Shift position

Description/Overview

of the Tool Room Technician:

Interact with Crew Supervisor and Manufacturing Specialists to provide needed tooling and direction for the purpose of assisting employees to make product that meets the Customer's expectations at levels of productivity that meet or exceed the established plan Reports directly to the Tool Room Supervisor,

in-directly to Tool Room Machinist

Responsibilites of the Tool Room Technician:

Operation of the Makino Milling Machines and other tool room equipment as trained (i.e. Wheelabrator, manual mill, and grinders) Tooling preparations (i.e. breakdown, cleaning and building of tooling to be machined) Measure step heights on punches and log data into the tool room step list Maintain punch cut records, compacting tool sign-out sheets and dispense to oven sheets Receive tooling in from vendors; perform inspection of product related tooling as needed One or more Tooling specialist assigned to write tool path programs for the Makino mills Basic operation of computer used to transfer programs to Makino mills Safety, work in a safe manner Assist with tooling inventory as needed One or more Tooling Specialist assigned to support training Perform daily/monthly operator PMs Assure production readiness of Tool and Die In addition to the above responsibilities, this position is responsible for other tasks as assigned

Required Skills of the Tool Room Technician:

CNC/machining background a plus Blueprint reading a plus Drill press and sawing

Required Education & Experience of the Tool Room Technician:

High School Diploma or GED ISO

9001/IATF16949/ISO14001

Awareness Advanced knowledge of manual Tool Room Equipment CNC mill details to finished size after heat treat (face forms) Identify and demonstrate usage of machine safety and personal protective equipment Lock-out/Tag-out Procedures Material Handling, hazardous material handling and storage Prepare details for CNC machines Preventative

maintenance/Machine

Tools Use hand tools on contoured steel from CNC milling operation
