Vice President of Off-Platform Strategy

to lead the vision, execution, and growth of our off-platform audience strategy. This high-impact leadership role is responsible for driving audience development, engagement, and monetization across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and others. This role will oversee a team focused on expanding our off-platform audiences, referrals to CNN, channel-specific content development, and platform-specific revenue generation. The ideal candidate will balance editorial and business goals, shaping platform-specific strategies that build habits, grow loyal audiences, and increase sponsorship and revenue opportunities. The candidate should be audience-obsessed, revenue-conscious, and fluent in platform behaviors, content formats, and performance data. Key Responsibilities: Off-Platform Strategy & Leadership:

Define and lead platform- and channel-specific strategies across CNN’s social and third-party content distribution channels. Oversee growth goals for reach, engagement, and referrals, tailoring strategies by platform and audience behavior. Collaborate with Editorial, Marketing, Growth, and Product teams to align efforts with brand objectives. Team Oversight:

Build and lead a high-performing team focused on: Growing reach through platform-native content on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc., with emphasis on engagement and habit-building formats. Driving traffic from social platforms back to CNN’s owned and operated properties. Supporting monetization efforts, including sponsorship opportunities and collaborations with Ad Sales. Monetization & Sponsorship Enablement:

Partner with Revenue, Brand, and Ad Sales teams to develop sponsorable content opportunities. Oversee ideation and packaging of content aligned with editorial values and platform behaviors. Optimize monetization strategies and measure their effectiveness. Performance & Optimization:

Guide growth and optimization strategies based on audience insights and performance metrics. Ensure channel managers develop data-driven, audience- and algorithm-informed strategies. Promote testing and iteration to adapt to platform changes and audience expectations. Qualifications & Experience 8-10+ years in social media strategy, audience development, digital content, or platform partnerships, preferably within media or digital-first organizations. Proven success in multi-platform growth strategies and managing cross-functional teams. Deep understanding of platform algorithms, audience behavior, and monetization across ecosystems. Experience collaborating with editorial and business teams to develop sponsor-ready content. Strong data literacy and ability to translate insights into strategies. Editorial judgment with a strong sense of brand integrity and platform nuance. Experience managing complex organizations. Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
