The role involves working with a PET scanner and three Nuclear Medicine cameras. The technologist will spend 70% of the time in PET and 30% in Nuclear Medicine. Imaging studies will include PET CT brain, PET CT whole body, and a variety of nuclear medicine scans such as bone scan, whole body scan, brain scans, cardiac pool, and cardiac MPI spect, among others. The technologist must be experienced in starting IVs. The average number of scans per day includes 8-10 PET scans managed by one technologist and 12-15 Nuclear Medicine studies split between two technologists. The department uses Epic for EMR and PACS - eUnity as a general viewer and MIMS for PET viewing. Department equipment includes a Mobile unit Phillips Gemini PET scanner and Siemens Nuclear Medicine machines. Work is scheduled from Monday to Friday with possible shifts from 7-3 or 8-4. There is an on-call rotation during weekends and holidays. The department has multiple radiologists in-house 24/7 for support. A Lead Tech functions as an alternate radiation safety officer and will work closely with any new hires.
