Overview
Responsible for the loss prevention program and patient safety program in the designated facility. Acts as a resource to professional staff, hospital staff, and medical staff. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Participates in loss prevention and patient safety initiatives. Coordinates investigations of claims and lawsuits, gathers evidence, conducts interviews, reviews medical records, and participates in root cause analysis.
- Reviews incident reports, investigates as needed, recommends corrective actions, and evaluates their effectiveness.
- Trends incidents, claims, and lawsuits; recommends and evaluates corrective actions.
- Identifies risk exposures, recommends control methods, and evaluates their effectiveness.
- Represents risk management and patient safety on relevant committees, providing leadership and guidance.
- Coordinates responses to lawsuits and discovery devices.
- Participates in professional activities related to risk management and patient safety.
- Completes assigned goals.
Requirements, Preferences, and Experience
Education
- Preferred: RN BSN, Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM).
- Minimum: Degree in a health-related field, nursing preferred; proficiency in risk management principles.
Experience
- Preferred: Risk management/patient safety and quality management experience.
- Minimum: 3-5 years of clinical and/or management experience.
Skills
- Knowledge of licensure and accreditation standards.
- Effective communication with medical staff and administration.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills.
