This position supervises, guides and motivates payroll staff and supports payroll business applications and processes utilized within the University System of Georgia. Provides system administration, consultation, development, and hands-on functional support to manage and implement the University System of Georgias vision for improved payroll services and promotes a responsive, service-oriented team operation. Responsibilities

Provides supervision and leadership of team to ensure staff are prepared, trained and poised to be productive, capable and responsive to the SSC stakeholders. Responsible for ensuring the appropriate maintenance of a wide variety of payroll information, files and records in written and electronic formats for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance. Researches issues escalated by senior level institution practitioners and works closely with senior level SSC management team to resolve problems in an effective and timely manner Researches discrepancies of payroll information and/or documentation for the purpose of ensuring accuracy. Actively participates or leads cross-functional SSC project teams in the evaluation of systems to ensure standardization across the system based on best practices, regulatory compliance and implementation of new and updated projects throughout the organization Reviews data from a wide variety of sources for the purpose of analyzing issues to ensure compliance. Maintains solid technical competence of payroll-related system and tasks while understanding the integration and interaction of all supported systems and functional areas. Fosters and maintains positive relationships with Payroll customer base, and serves as an interface between internal/external customers and functional team members. Proactively analyzes requirements, procedures, system capabilities and issues to automate or improve existing processes. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business, or a related field; five to eight years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the necessary knowledge and skills. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Strong organizational and time management skills, effectively managing work flow and ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines Effective leadership skills that can energize multi-disciplined work teams to respond to business needs. Strong written and oral communication with ability to lead and train staff and customers Ability to prioritize, set goals and objectives, and follow-through to completion Excellent research and problem solving skills Ability to effectively work with a diverse group of staff, technical staff, functional end-users and faculty and establish and maintain positive interpersonal working relationships with both internal and external customers Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and changing demands while being responsive to end user need Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and presentation skills. Extremely detail-oriented, with strong interpersonal and collaborative work style and ability to develop effective working relationships Knowledge of payroll accounting practices, federal and state taxation and payroll practices and guidelines. Knowledge of USG policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise others. Knowledge of HRMS strongly preferred. Sound judgment, tact and diplomacy in resolving benefits issues and handling confidential, sensitive information. Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs.
