In order to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
1. Maintains a high degree of discipline with students participating in the clinical portion of the Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide class in order to ensure optimal learning.
2. Establishes a positive, functional rapport with students.
3. Assists the Medical Assistant Instructor in providing instruction and supervision relevant to the course curriculum through lectures, discussions, demonstrations, individualized training plans and clinical instructions.
4. Uses all possible curricular resources available at the Center, Nursing Home and Hospital and help to secure instructional aids and materials as available.
5. Studies and demonstrates through performance a working knowledge of course objectives training guides, activity guides, TAR's and safety standards.
6. Ensures that students dresses in clinical clothing when performing work in the medical setting and uses personal protective equipment needed in the health occupations program.
7. Maintains up to date records (attendance forms, TAR's, etc.) on each student enrolled in the course.
8. Record skill acquisition and accomplishments by students as they occur and record daily attendance in a timely manner.
9. Participates in staff meetings, training seminars and other meetings as required.
10. Establishes and maintains a working relationship with the health industry to ensure training is relevant.
11. Prepares students to take the State Certification test.
12. Describes goals, performance expectations and standards, and articulate how their individual performance supports the admission, career preparation, career development and career transition of students.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in nursing desired. Current Registered Nurse Certification in the State required. Vocational Teacher's Certification preferred with three years' experience as a Nursing Clinical Instructor in the field as a Registered Nurse (RN) with one year long term health care experience required. Two years experience as a Nursing Clinical Instructor in cluster preferred.
OR
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state required. Vocational Teacher's Certification preferred with four years of experience in the field as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with one year long term health care experience required. Two years experience as a Health Occupations Instructor in cluster preferred.
Licenses or Certificates:
RN Certification State Teacher's Certificate preferred. LPN Required.
Must have or acquire Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPAR) and First Aid.
