POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a skilled Lead Diesel Technician to join our motivated team. In this role, you will provide leadership to a group of technicians ensuring that all maintenance and repair activities align with our company's stringent safety standards and comply with federal and state regulations. You will oversee maintenance for both diesel and non-diesel chassis as well as refuse bodywork, addressing complex repairs and mentoring your team to enhance their diagnostic skills.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate expert knowledge and proficiency in repairing and maintaining vehicle systems, including chassis components, refuse bodies, air and hydraulic braking systems, engine repair, suspension, drivetrain, steering systems, and HVAC.
- Guide technicians within your group, ensuring safe and efficient completion of all tasks while strategically planning repair work to minimize downtime.
- Inspect third-party repairs to ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
- Conduct advanced diagnostics on complex issues using various electronic tools to determine malfunctions.
- Complete required training programs and assist with Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities as needed.
- Cultivate a mentoring environment to foster growth and skill development among technicians.
- Perform additional job-related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a technician on heavy-duty trucks.
- Ability to work independently in troubleshooting and repairing heavy truck or automotive systems.
- Experience with OSHA regulations is a plus, as is supervisory or lead technician experience.
- ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1-T8) and a valid Driver's License are advantageous but not mandatory.
- A Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required.
