We are hiring for a Quantum Measurement Engineer . This position offers an opportunity to have a meaningful influence on?a revolutionary?technology. The research effort includes a diverse?staff of theoretical?and experimental physicists, hardware designers and software engineers around the world. We are seeking an experimental condensed matter physicist, applied physicist, materials scientist, or electrical engineer with a background in qubit measurements to participate in the research and development of our qubits.

Responsibilities

A successful candidate:

Uses suggested measurement techniques to advance quantum practices and device
n

Contributes to development and improvement ofmethods of measuring devices to gauge device characteristics and properties
n

Collaborates across teams for efficient use of company expertise, including hardware, software, and algorithms.

Documents work and makesresults available internally and externally to the team to more easily leverage work across teams.

Partners with others to measure characteristics and properties.
n
n
Appliesunderstanding of instrumentation involved (e.g., measurement techniques, wiring and filtering strategies for low temperature application).

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

n
Master's Degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field.
n
n
OR Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years experience in industry or in a research and development environment
n
n
OR equivalent experience.
n
n
2+ years' experiencewith experimenting with low-dimensional semiconductors, superconductivity, or quantum information processing devices.
n
n
2+ years' experience with data acquisition?and programming in a high-level language (e.g.python, matlab).
n
n
2+ years' experience with radio-frequency (RF) reflectometry or circuit quantum electrodynamics(cQED) measurements or pulsed measurements.
n

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate in Physics, Engineering, or related field
n

OR Master's Degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years experience in industry or in a research and development environment
n

OR Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years experience in industry or in a research and development environment
n
n
OR equivalent experience.
n
n
4+ years' experience (PhD included) with experimenting with low-dimensional semiconductors, superconductivity, or quantum information processing devices.
n
n
4+ years' (PhD included) experience with data acquisition?and programming in a high-level language (e.g.python, matlab).
n
n
4+ years' experience with RF reflectometry or cQED measurements and/or pulsed measurements.
n
n
Experience with the physics of Majorana zero modes.
n

Quantum Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
