nThe primary role of the Phlebotomist I is to provide support in performing various duties, troubleshooting, training, and offering workflow recommendations. This position involves collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, explaining the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously, and demonstrating techniques using straight and butterfly needles.

Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate.

Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures.

Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously.

Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
n n - n
Understand physicians' orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
n n - n
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
n n - n
Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.

Package specimens for transport, store specimen samples according to required temperature, and follow procedures necessary for transport to maintain specimen integrity.

Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.

Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Phlebotomy certification (CPT).

Open to individuals with at least 9+ months of experience.

Work Environment
nThe position is based at Myrtle Beach operating from 7am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. The role requires standing for most of the day and involves drawing approximately 35-40 specimens daily. The work environment includes a patient service center or doctor's office, handling patients of all ages, and working alongside two other employees. There is a requirement for 3 weeks of training, including computer and hands-on training with HM and site coordinator.
nPay and Benefits
nThe pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.50/hr.
