nLead Diesel Technician, Fleet Maintenance n

nAs the first Lead Diesel Technician at this new location , you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring our vehicle haulers and trailers are always in top condition. While you won't have direct reports to start, you'll be instrumental in setting the standard and establishing processes for the team that will grow around you. This position offers significant long-term growth potential into a role with direct leadership responsibilities as the location expands. You'll not only perform crucial preventative maintenance and general repairs but also leverage your leadership and organizational skills to contribute to efficient shop operations and accurate inventory management. nnWhat You'll Do: n
nWe're looking for motivated team players with at least 3 years of experience working with heavy equipment to:

Lead by example: As the foundational technician at this location, you'll set the standard for excellence and help establish best practices. This role offers a long-term opportunity to mentor and guide future team members as the site grows.

Master Diagnostics & Repair: Diagnose (using advanced diagnostic equipment) and perform general, preventative maintenance, and DVIR for all heavy equipment.
n n - n
Execute Complex Repairs: Perform scheduled repairs and resolve issues uncovered during inspection, including changing brakes, adjusting steering systems, replacing parts, fixing complex electrical issues, and changing hydraulic components. You'll also expertly change tires according to TIA guidelines.

Fabrication Skills: Utilize welders, torches, and plasma cutters to weld or fabricate broken parts, ensuring vehicle integrity.

Manage Parts Inventory: Maintain accurate and proper records for all repairs performed on our fleet using our software, including meticulous parts inventory management . This involves tracking parts usage, assisting with ordering, and ensuring optimal stock levels.

Advanced Troubleshooting: Use diagnostic equipment to pull fault codes and effectively follow OEM diagnostic trees to accurately diagnose equipment issues.

What You'll Bring: n

3+ years of experience in the Heavy Class 8 Mechanical Industry or a similar field.
n n - n
Proven experience in a leadership capacity or a strong desire to grow into a leadership role within a shop environment, demonstrating the ability to guide and support a team.

Solid understanding and experience with parts inventory management , including tracking, ordering, and organization.
n n - n
Valid Driver's License.
n n - n
Ability to obtain at least two ASE Certifications within the first 6 months of employment (process sponsored by Carvana).

Must have your own tools to complete daily tasks; specialty tools will be provided by Carvana.

Comfort with standing for extended periods with frequent stretching, reaching, walking, stooping, pushing, and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet, with potential fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance.

Ability to carry and transport up to 60 pounds up to 20 feet.
n n - n
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, fostering a professional and courteous environment.

Strong ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced setting.

Clear and concise communication skills, both written and oral.
