AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Engineer to join our growing resilience and climate adaptation team in our New York City, New York or Bloomfield, New Jersey locations. We are looking for a professional with strong design and project management skills to work with our multidisciplinary teams on resilient and climate adaptation infrastructure projects for local, state, and federal government and other public sector clients. In this role, your work will have a tangible, positive impact in the communities in which we work and live. The primary responsibilities include: Lead technical engineering planning, risk analysis, and design work, primary focused on extreme weather adaptation, coastal flood risk reduction, sea level rise, stormwater management, and green infrastructure, including both nature-based and hard infrastructure solutions. Coordinate with technical disciplines including civil; landscape architecture; hydrologic, hydraulic, and hydrodynamic modeling; geotechnical; structural; transportation; and ecological and environmental science. Manage distinct project tasks under the direction of Senior Project Managers. Write technical reports/memorandums. Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies and project stakeholders to gain consensus and approvals for project implementation. Field work for site reconnaissance. Support senior staff on technical proposals. Face-to-face interaction with clients. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Experience in concept, preliminary, and final design development and analysis. PE in NY or NJ or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire. Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in Civil, Water Resources, Coastal Engineering or similar. Experience with resilient design/climate adaptation strategy development, risk assessments, and/or water resources infrastructure projects. Experience with or oversight of hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling using various software programs such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, etc. Experience with federal, state, and local permitting and stakeholder engagement. Demonstrated proficiency AutoCAD/Civil 3D. Experience preparing construction documents, including drawings, specifications, cost estimating, and scheduling. Strong analytical, computation, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
