RN-Medical Support Coordinator - MCES - Public Safety Support
To assess, develop, implement and evaluate the nursing care and treatment for patients in an assigned area. To coordinate the operations of a clinical area, including patient scheduling, maintaining patient records and managing the patient admissions process. To counsel with patients and employers on treatment and conditions of patients. To act as liaison between case managers, customers, utilization review, etc. To coordinate patient services and care. To provide and assist with the provision of care in the field or austere environment. To act as a clinical subject matter expert in regards to EPIC, billing, insurance and coding. To perform job duties in accordance with the medical center's purpose. Education & Experience
Education and Experience Required:
Must be licensed as RN for two (2) years. Specialty or case management experience preferred.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:
Valid RN license. BLS required. ACLS and PALS preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Responsibilities: Navigates patients through the continuum of care. Provides patient care by performing problem-focused assessments, planning, implementing, and evaluating treatments and interventions for patients in pre-hospital, field, clinic, or disaster settings. Accurately documents care provided into the patient's medical record. Ensures patients have access to care that is appropriate, safe, effective, timely, efficient, and equitable, resulting in optimal health states for patients and cost-effective outcomes for the practice and organization. Performs, reviews, and provides analysis of billing and coding for MCES. Acts as a subject matter expert regarding insurance and government payment programs. Acts as subject matter expert regarding EPIC financial systems. Acts as the MCES liaison for the UMMC billing office. Performs clinical care in remote, unique, and at times, austere conditions which may require travel and overnight stay. Assists with developing workflows, policies, reports and procedures for the public safety support clinic. Provides patient and customer follow-up after services are rendered. Assists with public safety outreach, education, and grant programs as needed. Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, occasional exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, occasional work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.
