First Division Consulting is seeking a Senior Unix/Linux Systems Administrator to support a Department of the Navy (DoN) customer in Dahlgren, VA. The selected candidate will play a key role in managing RDT&E (Research, Development, Test & Evaluation) environments, ensuring the functionality, security, and efficiency of Unix/Linux-based systems, networks, and software infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Unix/Linux system administration, backup and recovery, network security protocols, and troubleshooting techniques. This role involves hardware and software installations, security management, and resource allocation, requiring a strong understanding of firewalls, vulnerabilities, and advanced detection methods. Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain Unix/Linux systems to ensure reliability, security, and performance. Manage system backup and recovery processes to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity. Perform hardware and software installations, configurations, and updates for RDT&E environments. Oversee security management, including firewall configurations, network security tools, and vulnerability mitigation. Conduct troubleshooting, performance tuning, and resource allocation to optimize system functionality. Implement and monitor TCP/IP network protocols and security measures to protect sensitive information. Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to enhance system security and defense strategies. Maintain compliance with DoD security standards and system accreditation requirements.
