GeoScience Assistant Organization: New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science Location: 1801 Mountain Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87104 An Off-Campus Work-Study Position The Geoscience Assistant will work under the supervision of the Geoscience Collections Manager to support the care, documentation, and organization of the museum's extensive fossil collections. This position works a maximum of 15 hours per week (30 hours per two-week pay period). Key Responsibilities: Assist with inventorying, cataloging, labeling, and rehousing fossil specimens according to museum best practices. Accurately enter and update specimen data using Microsoft Excel and specialized collections management software. Handle delicate fossil specimens with care and in compliance with museum handling protocols. Work independently with strong attention to detail while seeking clarification when needed. Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor when interacting with staff, volunteers, and museum visitors. Preferred Qualifications: Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree program in Earth Sciences, Biology, Museum Studies, or a related field.
