Audio Applications Engineer

Toyota's Integrated Vehicle Systems (IVS) Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Audio Applications Engineer to join us in creating the future of mobility as we develop next-generation vehicle audio systems. Reporting to the Senior Manager, the primary responsibility of this role is to develop audio-related electronics for vehicle specific applications. What you'll be doing: Plan structure of parts and systems through target setting, packaging, electrical interface definition, parameter setting, and style feasibility. Measured/accountable for following department processes, meeting deadlines, and error-free output for parts development of the group (E.g., Parts Lists, Wire Specifications, Part Specifications.). For specified vehicle projects, responsible for identifying and developing products through project related milestones in cooperation with related groups. Measured/accountable for the development of electronics parts within concurrent minor and major changes. Taking extra initiative to improve group operations such as processes, visualization of project health, and other initiatives to increase quality of group output. Improving the customer experience by innovation. Continually gaining knowledge of parts, competitors and customers and transforming them into innovative proposals, designs or developments. Benchmark competitor vehicles, consumer electronics, and other related technologies then derive next-generation parts/system proposals to improve user experience, cost, mass, and performance. Execute design in Catia either independently or by leading Supplier Engineers and CAD modelers. Create and maintain part development schedule through to SOP (Start of Production). Conduct schedule negotiations within Electronics Systems department and suppliers. Assess and develop risk management activities to maintain project targets; i.e., performance, cost, mass, quality, user experience. Make proposals and recommendations to recover. Participate in evaluation and manufacturing activities at the event location - both domestic and international. Communicate between various Toyota Design Center's Engineering Staff. Facilitate regular communication with Toyota Japan counterparts. What you bring: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering. 3 or more years of multimedia/audio/infotainment development. 2 or more years of experience leading cross-functional group negotiations for connected vehicle infotainment solutions. 1 year or more experience creating test plans and conducting vehicle validation for electronic systems. 6 months or more experience developing and maintaining vehicle parts lists, designing wire specifications, 3D modeling with CATIA , initiating make vs buy solutions, creating design specifications for supplier development, and ensuring regulatory compliance for multiple regional developments. 6 months or more experience solving problems with North American Manufacturing centers, investigating root causes and countermeasures for problems between quality and design spanning multiple disciplines e.g. electrical and mechanical. 1 year or more experience developing Truck specific HMI applications. 1 or more years of experience of infotainment development for electrified powertrain vehicle projects. 1 year or more experience designing multimedia systems with HVAC integration. 1 year or more experience creating presentation material for executives. 4 years or more experience using MS office tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Planner. Willingness to work onsite in Saline, Michigan 4-5 days / week. Willingness to Travel for work (including internationally) up to approximately 10% of the time. Added bonus if you have: 2 or more years of experience utilizing Matlab for data analysis. 1 year or more of IBM Rational Doors experience. 1 year or more of C++ coding experience. Experience developing electronics proof of concept utilizing development kits such as Raspberry Pi or Arduino etc. Interest to learn Japanese language.
