Plc Networking Engineer
We are seeking a detail-oriented PLC Networking Engineer to design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure supporting industrial automation systems. This role is responsible for ensuring reliable communication between PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and other industrial devices across Ethernet/IP. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in both PLC systems and industrial networking best practices. Responsibilities include: Design and implement robust industrial network architectures for PLC-based automation systems. Configure switches, routers, and firewalls within OT (Operational Technology) environments. Set up and maintain industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, OPC UA). Troubleshoot and diagnose network-related PLC communication issues. Collaborate with Controls Engineers to ensure proper PLC-to-PLC and PLC-to-HMI/SCADA communications. Implement VLANs, QoS, and segmentation strategies to enhance network security and performance. Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards for industrial networks (ISA/IEC 62443, NIST, etc.). Document network configurations, topology diagrams, and change logs. Provide training and support for field technicians and maintenance staff. Support startup, commissioning, and integration of automation systems at customer or production sites. This position manages all employees of the department (6-8) and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
