This is our Christian mission, and it inspires us to help make communities healthier and happier. The Surgical Tech works under the supervision of the surgeon and RN. Assists surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical cases and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed. Assists in preparing and moving patients and sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment and rooms. Coordinates functions and activities for all surgical specialties; maintains appropriate supplies, instruments, vendor needs, and physician preferences. Covers specialty service in absence of RN specialty leader. Assists in orienting new hires and training staff for the surgical specialties, i.e. procedures, equipment, new technology and changes in clinical practice. Participates in strategic planning and related implementation activities. The value you'll bring to the team: Uses physician preference card to identify supplies and equipment needed for the scheduled surgical or emergency procedures. Updates preference cards with any necessary changes. Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure. Prepares solutions and medications used. Properly labels and reports amounts used for charting. Prepare back table and mayo stand anticipating needs of the surgeon and through the use of the surgeon's preference card. The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed: High school diploma or GED. Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program. 2 years of surgical tech experience. Basic computer skills. BLS from American Heart Association. Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech. Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Preferred qualifications: Experience in a specialty field.
