Job Description Job Title: PACU RN (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)
Shift: Day 4x10 Hour (09:00 AM - 07:30 PM) Start Date: 09/15 Patient Ratios: 1:2 Years of Experience Required: 2 First-timers Accepted: Yes Weekend Requirement: Yes, every other weekend On-Call Requirement: Yes, 6-8 call shifts per month (including weekends and holidays)
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate PACU RN to join our team in a Short-Term Acute Care facility. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care for post-surgical patients, primarily those recovering from orthopedic procedures such as total joints, knees, hips, and shoulders.
Key Responsibilities: - Monitor and assess post-anesthesia recovery for patients. - Administer care for ventilated patients and provide conscious sedation as required. - Perform special procedures, including TEE/cardioversions, knee/hip manipulations under anesthesia, and aspirations under anesthesia. - Utilize telemetry and recognize/manage dysrhythmias. - Maintain accurate patient records using an electronic medical record (EMR) system (Cerner preferred). - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more. - Float to other units as necessary to meet facility needs.
Qualifications: - Valid RN license in Florida or compact license. - Minimum of 2 years of experience in a PACU or similar setting. - Certifications: ACLS, BCLS required (NIHSS, CPAN, CAPA preferred). - Experience with Cerner EMR is preferred. - Ability to demonstrate skills in conscious sedation and telemetry. - Must have a valid COVID-19 vaccination (medical/religious exemptions accepted).
Unit Details: - Daily Census: 12 - Special equipment includes flat Jackson table, Hana Table, and Mako Robot. - Staffed Beds: 120 - Work in a multidisciplinary environment with supportive teams.
