Oracle
We are facing several engineering challenges in critical foundational data-plane services that power the next-gen OCI cloud. We need you to challenge existing engineering assumptions and boundaries, bringing your expertise in highly performant, reliable, and available system engineering to elevate OCI data-planes. This is an opportunity to build innovative solutions for our customers from the ground up. Our team is young and rapidly growing, working on ambitious initiatives such as providing canonical implementations of core data-plane components through a runtime framework, developing remote persistent storage solutions with latency and performance comparable to local NVMe drives, and creating tools to identify critical performance improvements across OCI data-planes. We seek self-motivated engineers passionate about solving challenging system, data-plane, and performance problems. You should be a solid developer capable of deep low-level systems work, designing broad distributed interactions for high performance and scalability. Valuing simplicity, working comfortably in collaborative, agile environments, and a desire to learn are essential qualities. Responsibilities Utilize your technical, research, and analytical skills to envision, collaborate with executives, and drive the design and development of new major data-plane components for Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure. Define the foundations for the next generation of OCI data-planes, making deep architectural changes as an outstanding builder and technical leader with a proven track record in large cloud-scale projects. As a member of the software engineering division, you will contribute to defining and evolving standard practices, specify requirements for significant projects, and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional tasks related to designing, developing, and debugging software applications or operating systems. Qualifications 5+ years of relevant engineering, architecture, or development/operational experience. Strong experience with C/C++ (preferred) or Rust (preferred). Experience with high-concurrency systems. Expertise in low-level and performance-critical system design and service development. Familiarity with Linux OS/kernels, device drivers, performance testing, distributed debugging, high-performance storage, and networking. Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Comfortable in complex, rapidly evolving software environments. Ability to quickly learn new technologies and improve cross-team processes. Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts and technologies. Experience working with geographically distributed teams. Background in startups or fast-paced enterprise environments. Additional Information This role is available in the US with a hiring range of $96,800 to $223,400 annually, possibly including bonuses and equity. Oracle offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and various voluntary benefits.
