Locum OB/GYN Hospitalist $1,418 per 24-Hour On-Call Des Moines, IA

Location: Des Moines, Iowa Anticipated Start Date: January 1, 2026 Schedule: 6.5 on-call shifts/month 24-hour call (7:00 AM 7:00 AM) Position Overview A leading health system in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Board-Certified or truly Board-Eligible OB/GYN Hospitalist for a locum to perm opportunity. This inpatient-only role focuses on providing high-quality obstetric and emergency gynecologic care in an on-call model , not continuous in-house presence. Clinical Setting & Responsibilities
* Setting: OB Emergency Department (OBED) & hospital-based obstetric care * Duties Include:
* Managing OBED patients, including those without designated OB providers * Attending emergent deliveries and performing C-sections as needed * Supporting Iowa's only dedicated maternity transport team
* Environment:
* 8-bed OBED with imaging, lab, and pharmacy onsite * Annual volume: 1,389 OBED visits / 463 deliveries * EMR: Epic
* No APP supervision required * No telehealth responsibilities
Schedule & Call
* 6.5 call shifts per month * Each shift: 24-hour on-call coverage (7:00 AM 7:00 AM) * Includes weekend and holiday rotations * Call expectations are managed off-site unless patient needs arise
Candidate Requirements
* Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in OB/GYN * Active Iowa medical license or IMLC eligibility ( LOQ required at time of submission ) * Confident in independently managing high-acuity obstetric cases
