SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Data Analyst is responsible for managing a combination of data processing, workflow management, quality control analysis, and training communication to improve accuracy, quality, and data integrity. The Data Analyst will have a keen eye for detail, be proficient with various data processing software, and excel at interpreting and reporting data trends and data analytics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Data Collection & Management: Collect, organize, and validate large datasets and processing statistics from multiple sources to ensure completeness and accuracy, ensuring all data is stored securely and accurately. Workflow Management – Conduct audit of current workflow to improve efficiency, remediate scheduling bottlenecks and recurring quality issues and revamp setup to meet the changing needs of the department. Data Analysis: Analyze data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can support decision making. Use statistical techniques and software tools to interpret and analyze data. Data Visualization: Create visual reports and dashboards (using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Excel) to present complex findings in an easily understandable manner for stakeholders. Data Quality Control: Conduct quality control checks and reviews of electronic documents and data files, ensuring that data is processed correctly and meets the required standards. Perform data cleansing tasks to ensure that datasets are accurate and free from errors, inconsistencies, or redundancies. Assess Processing patterns and establish updated controls when patterns are noticed. Monitor and Review Logs: Monitor data processing logs for inconsistencies or issues; report any discrepancies to the Supervisor/Manager for immediate resolution. Assess logging patterns and update controls and SOPs as required when anomalies occur. Problem Resolution: Investigate and report data processing discrepancies and develop solutions to enhance data handling processes. Aim to reduce encountered issues by 25% within a calendar year. Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with team members to propose and implement enhancements for more efficient data collection, processing, and analysis procedures. Target a 25% reduction in repeated escalated situations within a calendar year. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments to ensure that data requirements and reporting specifications are understood and met. Ad-Hoc Analysis: Perform ad-hoc analysis as needed to support business requirements or urgent inquiries. Identify new sources of operating problem areas for future automation possibilities.
Proactively look for upstream gaps and work with various stakeholders to ensure breakdowns are solved and scalable. Deliverables: Provide a comprehensive set of recommendations at the end of the engagement to improve workflow efficiency, quality control, data consistency and integrity, quality of training and communication, and cross-department collaboration. Assigned other duties and special projects as required by management.
QUALIFICATION Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer-related field in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a closely related field is required, Master’s degree a plus.
Experience and Skills: Database experience, a plus Strong working knowledge with MS Office Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Data Analyst or in a similar role focused on data interpretation and insight generation. Proficiency with data analysis tools and languages such as SQL, Excel, Python, R, and data visualization platforms like Tableau or Power BI. Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in Linux/Unix environments, with scripting ability in bash or similar. Strong knowledge of statistical methods, data modeling, and data-driven decision-making techniques. Familiarity with relational database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL). Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively to non-technical stakeholders. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent organizational and planning skills and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse, multi-cultural and multi-generational staff. Able to multi-task in demanding and fast paced environment Requires technical problem resolution skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with expedited responsiveness.
Preferred Skills: Experience with machine learning techniques and predictive analytics tools. Familiarity with ETL processes and data warehousing concepts. Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure for data storage and analysis. Adaptability to learn and adopt new technologies and analytical tools. Knowledge of technical troubleshooting methods and systems thinking. Experience in cross-functional collaboration within a diverse and multi-generational team environment.
