Piper Shores is Maine's premier non-profit continuing care retirement community. The Dietary team is responsible for ensuring that residents in our Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing neighborhoods receive nutritious and enjoyable meals tailored to their specific needs and preferences.
This role provides day-to-day oversight of Holbrook Servers, providing mentoring, guidance, and feedback on daily operations and service, and has a strong presence during service to ensure a high-quality dining experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
: Supports the Dietary Manager in developing personalized meal plans that meet dietary restrictions, cultural preferences, nutritional requirements, and food preferences. Promote a pleasant, positive and dignified dining experience that enhances residents' quality of life. Works alongside Hospitality Associates during meal prep, service and clean-up, and demonstrates the highest standard of service to role model to others. Interface with cooks to address changes to meals, discuss new residents or other items. Utilizes Meal Tracker/Matrix Care for data entry/maintenance related to food and nutrition for residents in Holbrook. Conducts end-of-shift inspections for kitchen and dining area cleanliness. In the absence of the Dietary Manager, attends Care Plan Meetings and serves as Manager in charge. Fills in for unscheduled call-outs as needed and as is reasonably practical. Provides day-to-day supervision to the Hospitality Associates; maintains a strong working partnership with other key staff and direct reports. Along with the Dietary Manager and Learning & Development Specialist, responsible for ensuring that staff education is provided to dietary personnel in accordance with the staff education plan plus provides on the job training for Health Center dietary personnel. Serves as a role model to direct reports, develops team members and promotes a positive work environment. Along with the Dietary Manager, conducts performance evaluations and performs disciplinary processes if necessary. Communicates with team members on key operational updates and priorities. QUALIFICATIONS
:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in food service operations, preferably within a health care setting preferred. Prior leadership/supervisory experience required. Ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with, work with and demonstrate patience with residents, families, visitors, peers, supervisors, and direct reports. Ability to interpret and explain menus, refer or answer questions, coordinate meal service process and understand requests. Understanding of the dietary needs and preferences of a senior population. Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic. Proficient with Microsoft Office, ability to learn and utilize other technology. Ability to work independently and self-monitor completion of tasks. Ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisor and peers.
