ABOUT THE ROLE

The Regional Design Director is responsible for overseeing and leading creative excellence within a specific geographic area of the company. Currently, the regions consist of 150-300 people across multiple local offices, each with their own design leadership.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO

Transforming design excellence You will be accountable for design quality across the region, including regular meetings with senior design leaders, regional standards reviews, and overseeing recognition and awards. You will promote Living-Centered Design, collaborate with marketing to communicate regional impact, and represent the firm externally at events. You will lead select client projects, focusing on storytelling and client value. You will also nurture a community of designers, set standards for collaboration and innovation, and support the recruitment and growth of regional design talent. As an ambassador, you will demonstrate how Living-Centered Design manifests in culture and client partnerships. Transforming the design team You will foster a collaborative, innovative environment, mentor future leaders, and ensure high-performance teams across offices. You will embody the firm’s brand and Living-Centered Design ethos in your leadership. Transforming the organization You will be a regional voice for the firm’s design aspirations, participate in regional growth planning, and align regional and firm-wide goals. You will work with leadership to develop strategies that support regional and overall firm growth, with success measured by regional and collective performance metrics. Demonstrable design talent You must have a strong design portfolio with significant work, recognized through awards or publications. Your recognition will attract top talent. Strong communication skills You should be skilled in communicating complex ideas compellingly, representing the firm at events, and inspiring your region. Leadership, management, and community-building You will manage diverse creative teams, foster a strong regional community, and promote collaboration across disciplines. Basic managerial skills are essential. Business fluency You should understand business metrics, regional growth strategies, and contribute to achieving financial targets, including supporting 10% annual regional growth. Innovative thinking You should demonstrate innovative design solutions addressing societal, environmental, and business challenges, challenging the status quo. Collaborative approach You will support a culture of transparency, trust, and collaboration, helping to develop future leaders and advance Living-Centered Design. Business centric You should understand client and firm business strategies, contribute to regional growth, and foster a culture of excellence and long-term client relationships. HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture (preferred from an accredited program). At least 20 years of related experience in design leadership or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years leading design teams. Current US Architectural Registration (preferred). Additional relevant accreditation (e.g., LEED) preferred. Strong design portfolio with recognized work. Excellent storytelling and presentation skills. Ability to understand and execute business strategy. Professional maturity and communication skills. Willingness to travel. The salary range is $204,240 to $255,300 annually, with potential bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package. For more details, visit
