Job OverviewFairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant to join our St. John's Hospital team in Maplewood, MN. This position is a .7 FTE- 56 hours per two weeks on the day/eve shift, for 8 hour shifts, every other weekend, variable schedule.This hospital provides a warm, inviting atmosphere and humble staff. Our 184 bed facility offers a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.About this Unit:Our unit offers 29 LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery & post-partum) beds plus 2 triage rooms. We have 1 water birth room and 2 OR suites. We provide single room care, which provides patients and families with outstanding care, all within the same room throughout their stay. We average 200+ deliveries a month and manage many outpatients daily for antenatal testing. Daily census is 18 mom and baby couplets. Our NICU is newly remodeled, and we are pleased to expand our care to higher risk patients (28 weeks gestational age).A member of the interdependent team led by a designated RN, is accountable to perform patient care duties and activities for a group of patients. Performs such care as vital sign checks, bladder scanning, blood sugar testing, documentation of cares provided. Reports patient care data and progress of outcomes to designated RN.ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates commitment to the universal guiding principles of the patient care model in order to achieve the M Health Fairview Nursing vision.Supports the Nursing Process to achieve outcome focused patient care. Supports holistic nursing theory based on Watson's theory of caring aligning with the practice standards of the American Holistic Nurses' Association and the nursing patient care model (Professional Partnership Model) in order to achieve the M Health Fairview Nursing vision.Communicates accurately and effectively with patient/family and health care team members. Reinforces patient education as directed by clinical staff.Achieves customer service excellence by understanding the needs of all internal and external customers, patients, families, physicians and the interdependent team.Documents patient information in EHR and/or other electronic system in accordance with program standards, department policies/procedures.Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.Required QualificationsBasic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program. andSuccessful completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program. orSix months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician) orCurrent enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program orCurrent certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position.
