Base pay range $40.00/hr - $50.00/hr Computer Network Architect This position is contingent upon contract funding Purpose Valkyrie Enterprises has need for a Computer Network Architect who will provide network and I.T. design support at San Antonio-Lackland Airforce Base, TX, 78236 Job Description Planning and designing data communication networks Presenting network plans to management staff Provides design of network and prompt IT design, support, and assistance with a variety of day-to-day tasks to support the IT team and staff with security, design and documentation of the network. : Collaborates with management staff to determine networking needs Overseeing the network implementation process, including setting schedules and budgets Managing information and network security Implementing upgrades to hardware and software as needed Performing maintenance and repairs to network equipment Keeping documentation of networks, including drawings, descriptions and configurations Researching network technologies and staying up to date on advancements in the field Implements new server and network hardware and corresponding software solutions. Ensures that all network systems are functioning and communicating properly. Systems include server hardware, server software, firewalls, routers, network switches, VPN devices, cabling (Ethernet and fiber optics), wireless routers, and other related network systems. Tracks systems end of life and specifies replacements when needed. Documents existing systems and formulates comprehensive plans for the implementation of new systems. Performs regular inventories of existing IT equipment & reports any discrepancy to Program Manager Provides assistance and guidance to IT Technicians as needed. Qualifications Must have a minimum of 6 years experience in the field of Network Architecture and Design. Must possess an advanced understanding of networking protocols & procedures. Must possess experience with tier 1 network hardware in a production environment. Must possess advanced understanding of Microsoft OS & applications, including server applications, i.e. Exchange in a production environment. Must have extensive experience with hardware/software troubleshooting and analysis. Must demonstrate initiative, the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and determine priorities in a fast-paced environment. Must have excellent people skills; communication and familiarity with a customer support environment are crucial. Desired Qualifications IAT Level III Networking certification is preferred. Security Requirements Must have TS/SCI security clearance. Travel Requirements Occasional travel- less than 10% If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.
