The unit has a 65-bed capacity. It operates with a pod-based structure, including a separate pediatric pod and an Acute Mental Health area. General emergency nursing skills are required, which include assessment, documentation, IV placement, phlebotomy, EKG, cardiac monitoring, point-of-care testing, splinting, and patient education. The clinician-to-patient ratio is 1:4. The patient population includes all age groups. The department has a daily census of approximately 230 visits. The electronic medical record (EMR) system used is EPIC ASAP. Floating to other areas is required. Rotating shifts may be necessary, though low frequency for day shifts. Night positions do not rotate. Additional certifications such as TNCC are strongly preferred.
