Title: Director of Alumni Engagement
Reports to: Vice President of Advancement
Collaborates closely with: Directors of BCI and Camp Alonim
Location: American Jewish University, Familian Campus (Bel Air, CA) future location TBD. Hybrid schedule: In-office Monday-Thursday; remote work on Fridays. Role requires periodic travel to AJU locations in Simi Valley and Beverly Hills, and other local travel as needed. Occasional evenings and weekends are required.

American Jewish University (AJU) is seeking a passionate and strategic Director of Alumni Engagement to lead efforts to engage and activate alumni across its wide range of programs, with a priority focus on Camp Alonim and BCI . This role is responsible for designing and implementing initiatives that deepen alumni connection to AJU, foster a lifelong sense of community and identity, and cultivate support for the university's mission and programs.
This is a key leadership role that blends community building, communications, strategic planning, and fundraising. The ideal candidate is a creative relationship-builder and enthusiastic connector who is themselves an alumnus of camp experience, and/or an AJU program and understands the power and potential of AJU's alumni community.
Key Responsibilities
Compensation:
Salary range: $110,000 - $125,000 annually, commensurate with experience. AJU offers a comprehensive benefits package.
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:30 am - 5 pm in office (Bel Air campus, future office location TBD); Fridays 8:30 am - 2:30 pm remote; Occasional evenings and weekends, including shabbat celebrations throughout the year.
Benefits: Eligible for AJU's full-time employee benefits package, including health insurance, paid holidays, and PTO; AJU is closed for most Jewish holidays and many federal holidays, as well as for one week for winter break.

Key Responsibilities
- Alumni Engagement Strategy:
Develop and execute a comprehensive alumni engagement strategy, with a near-term focus on Camp Alonim and BCI alumni, and long-term expansion across other AJU programs. - Community Building:
Foster meaningful relationships with alumni across generations and geographies, cultivating a strong sense of belonging, identity, and commitment to AJU's mission. - Volunteer Leadership:
Recruit, train, and support alumni volunteer leaders and regional ambassadors to extend AJU's reach and impact. - Events & Programs:
Plan and execute engaging alumni events and programs (in-person and virtual), including reunions, networking events, service opportunities, and speaker series. - Storytelling & Communications:
Partner with the Communications and PR team to amplify alumni stories, celebrate accomplishments, and promote opportunities for alumni involvement. - Data & Insights:
Maintain and grow a dynamic alumni database in coordination with AJU's Advancement and Data Services teams. Use data to inform outreach, track engagement, and measure impact. - Fundraising Support:
Collaborate with the Advancement team to identify and cultivate potential alumni donors and integrate alumni engagement into the university's fundraising strategy.
- Experience in a camp and/or experience with Camp Alonim, BCI, Ziegler School, or other university program.
- 5+ years of professional experience in alumni relations, community engagement, advancement, or related fields.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, volunteer management, and relationship building.
- Strong event planning and project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with CRM or alumni database systems; experience with platforms like HubSpot is a plus.
- Passion for Jewish education, Jewish camp, experiential learning, and building vibrant Jewish community.
