Electrical Engineer 2 - Distribution

Contract- 1 Year
Position Summary:
The Electrical Engineer 2 - Distribution is responsible for designing, planning, and managing utility distribution systems with a focus on electrical infrastructure. With 5-10 years of experience, this role plays a vital part in ensuring reliable, efficient, and compliant utility delivery systems. This position requires strong technical expertise, project management capabilities, and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
  • System Design: Plan and design electrical power distribution systems, including overhead and underground lines.
  • Network Optimization: Enhance distribution network performance for reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Project Management: Lead distribution-related projects through all phases-design, budgeting, scheduling, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Compliance: Ensure all systems adhere to applicable safety, environmental, and industry regulations.
  • Technical Analysis: Conduct load flow studies, fault analysis, voltage drop calculations, and reliability assessments.
  • System Upgrades & Maintenance: Recommend and coordinate infrastructure upgrades or replacements; plan proactive maintenance schedules.
  • Quality Assurance: Review and validate engineering designs and construction implementation to uphold standards and specifications.
  • Documentation: Maintain up-to-date records, technical drawings, reports, and documentation.
  • Safety Enforcement: Promote and adhere to safety practices across engineering and field teams.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, technicians, construction crews, and external stakeholders to achieve project goals.
  • Customer Support: Respond to technical inquiries and provide expert advice related to distribution systems.
  • Software Tools: Create construction drawings using tools like JETS , Socket (load calculations) , and OFS .
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering , Civil Engineering , or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in utility distribution engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or required (based on jurisdiction).
  • Proficiency in distribution system software tools (e.g., JETS, Socket, OFS).
  • In-depth knowledge of NEC, NESC, utility standards, and applicable regulatory codes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage engineering projects effectively, including budgeting and scheduling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a safety- and quality-first mindset.
  • Adaptability to emerging technologies and industry practices.
