Job Title: Project Engineer 6

Summary
The Project Engineer serves as the primary technical focal point for assigned business-class seating programs, ensuring seamless coordination between engineering disciplines, program management, customers, and manufacturing. This role is responsible for delivering world-class premium seating solutions that meet stringent aerospace standards, combining passenger comfort, innovative features, and regulatory compliance.
You will lead cross-functional teams across Mechanical, Electrical, Stress, Flammability, Certification, Testing, and Technical Publications to deliver on-time, on-budget, and on-quality seat engineering packages. This includes planning, execution, and continuous improvement from concept through certification and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Program & Technical Leadership
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Customer Orientation
Must demonstrate concern and take actions to meet requirements and high standards of quality of both internal and external customers. Must display courtesy and sensitivity, manage difficult situations, meet commitments, respond promptly to customer needs, and solicit customer feedback to improve service.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear.
Travel within the U.S. and abroad is required to support Jamco America programs.

Key Responsibilities
Program & Technical Leadership
- Serve as the engineering focal for all technical matters with internal teams, OEMs, and airline customers.
- Develop and maintain the Tier 2 engineering schedule, aligned with the program master schedule.
- Define, maintain, and safeguard the technical work scope, preventing scope creep.
- Lead integrated technical teams to ensure deliverables meet program cost, schedule, quality, and weight targets.
- Drive risk identification and mitigation strategies.
- Assess engineering change requests, document cost and schedule impacts, and coordinate approvals with Program Management.
- Oversee the preparation and submittal of engineering documentation and technical deliverables.
- Integrate OEM and FAA/EASA certification requirements into design packages.
- Coordinate long-lead item identification and ensure timely procurement for mock-ups, test articles, and certification campaigns.
- Support and manage engineering development and certification testing, including creation of test plans, oversight of test article builds, and coordination with regulatory authorities.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to ensure manufacturability and compliance.
- Provide technical status reports to engineering and executive leadership.
- Act as a mentor for junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
- Interface directly with customers during milestone reviews, technical meetings, and on-site visits.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Systems Engineering
- 12+ years of engineering experience, with significant involvement in aircraft seating or interior structures.
- Proven record managing complex, multi-disciplinary aerospace projects.
- Strong command of FAA/EASA certification processes and OEM design requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with design tools such as CATIA V5, Pro/E, or AutoCAD.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in premium business-class seat design and integration.
- Familiarity with Design Built Team (DBT), Design for Cost, APQP, DFMEA, Earned Value Management (EVM), and Lean principles.
- Understanding of materials, ergonomics, human factors, and in-seat systems integration.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence, negotiate, and resolve conflicts across teams.
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
- Domestic and international travel to OEM sites, suppliers, and certification authorities is required to support program milestones and technical reviews.
