The Catholic Community Foundation of the Diocese of Richmond is seeking a Parish Fundraising and Stewardship Officer .
Summary/Purpose: The Parish Fundraising and Stewardship Officer is a dynamic fundraising professional who works closely with parishes on offertory support, planned giving, donor stewardship, and capital campaigns. This role aims to maximize the philanthropic potential of parishes to enhance parish life and community impact. Serving across multiple regions within the Diocese of Richmond (excluding Northern Virginia), this position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on mission work through collaboration with pastors, volunteers, and donors while developing leadership skills.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of parish-level capital campaign fundraising, including feasibility studies, pre-planning, solicitation, and post-campaign communications.
- Consult with parishes to increase annual offertory and promote year-round stewardship efforts, including recognition and education about the impact of donations. Support collections for special projects like building maintenance or ministry enhancements.
- Implement a planned giving program to educate parishioners on supporting their parish through planned gifts and highlight the long-term impact of such gifts.
- Assist parishes with major gift opportunities for both short-term and long-term needs, including soliciting individuals and conducting donor research.
- Support parishes in their Annual Diocesan Appeal efforts as needed.
- Travel to parishes to provide on-site leadership, guidance, and support on philanthropic matters.
- Attend regional and national conferences to stay updated on fundraising and stewardship best practices.
- Perform other fundraising-related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions: This is a full-time position with office hours Monday Friday, 8:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m., including a flexible lunch hour. Frequent travel throughout Virginia (excluding Northern Virginia) is expected.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree with 5+ years of experience in professional fund development; experience with capital campaigns is preferred.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple tasks are required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Blackbauds Raisers Edge is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, storytelling, and public speaking skills. Ability to work collaboratively and with high integrity. Willingness to travel frequently, including occasional nights and weekends. A background in and appreciation for the Catholic Church are preferred.
