General Purpose:Assist in food preparation and serving; maintain clean and sanitary conditions in the kitchen and dining areas under the supervision of the Dietary Manager or Cook.Essential Job Functions:This facility expects their employees to promote an atmosphere of teamwork with other employees and hospitality and comfort for its residents. Therefore, the following list of duties is not all-inclusive:Food Preparation, Serving and CleaningAssist in the preparation and serving of meals and snacksAssist in checking trays for menu and diet preferences and accuracySet up trays and deliver meals to residentsSet up serving line with cold foods, condiments, serving containers, dishes, silverware, etc. according to the menus and as instructedWork on central tray service line, placing appropriate food on general and modified diet trays, as directedDeliver loaded food carts to corridor and return unloaded carts to dish washing unitCollect soiled trays and utensils from dining room tables and transport them to dish washing areaWash dishes, clean equipment, wipe off dining room and worktables, clean utensils, pots and pans; mop floors in dietary, etc., as assignedClean and maintain kitchen and food preparation equipment as assignedWash, sanitize, and store trays, dishes and utensilsSupplyStock and store food items as assignedMaintain a level of food and supplies adequate for the next meal and assist in inventorying and storing incoming foods and suppliesReport hazardous conditions, equipment, accidents and incidents, as necessaryOther dutiesAttend in-service education programs in order to meet facility educational requirementsBe familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill and Evacuation Procedures and know how to use the informationMaintain confidentiality of resident and facility records/informationProtect residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuseProtect the personal property of the residents of the facilityOthers as directed by the supervisor or administratorMinimum Qualifications:Experience in hospital or skilled nursing facility dietary department preferredOrganized and detailed in work performanceGood communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patienceGenuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursing facilityComply with the Residents' Rights and Facility Policies and ProceduresPerform work tasks within the physical demand requirements as outlined belowPerform Essential Duties as outlined aboveWorking Conditions:Subject to frustrations in meeting work demands due to frequent interruptionsFast paced, required to make decisions quicklyInvolved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstancesMay work beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessarySubject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B virusesMay be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals
