Job: Full time, Exempt, Union Supervisor: Sr. Director of DevelopmentUnion Minimum Pay Rate: $76,500 annuallyPosition Summary: The Major Gifts Officer will work closely with the Senior Director of Development and the Chief Development Officer to advance the strategic planning, outreach and fundraising associated with the Museum's forthcoming fundraising campaign. The Major Gifts Officer will manage a portfolio of approximately 100 major donors and prospects, overseeing the cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgement, recognition and stewardship for these individuals. This position will support the Museum's forthcoming fundraising campaign, which is expected to conclude in 3 to 4 years. Duties and Responsibilities:Actively manage a portfolio of 100 donors and prospects who have the capacity to contribute gifts of $100,000 or more over up to five years.Initiate and strengthen relationships with donors and prospects, creating an individual cultivation and solicitation plan for each. Develop and propose strategies for solicitation of major gifts, including matching donor intent with institutional needs and priorities; recommending the specific structure and level of gifts; identifying Museum leaders to be involved in cultivation and solicitation; and assuring that solicitations are carried out.Develop donor communication materials, research profles, proposals and reports. Balance major gift requests with annual fundraising, ensuring goals for each can be met.Collaborate across the Development Department and the Museum to develop donor engagement strategies and remain knowledgeable about funding opportunities and priorities.Utilize the Museum's donor database (Raiser's Edge) and other systems/tools to ensure personal information and contact points with donors are up to date and properly noted.Regularly attend Museum events, both internally and externally, to act as an ambassador for the Museum, and identify and cultivate new prospects. Perform other duties as assigned. RequirementsQualifications:Bachelor's Degree RequiredMinimum 5 years' experience in Major Gift fundraising or comparable work experienceProven track record of closing gifts at the six-figure level (and above)Robust knowledge of best-in-practice fundraising policies and approachesThorough understanding in major gift prospect identification and moves management within a development settingCustomer service orientation with exceptional follow-through abilityExceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbalFluency in Microsoft Suite and Raiser's Edge or comparable donor databaseAbility to maintain a flexible work schedule, including some evenings and weekendsPrior campaign management experience preferredExperience in an arts/culture organization preferredFamiliarity with Milwaukee philanthropic landscape preferredPreferred Capabilities:Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectivelyStrong information gathering and monitoring skillsFriendly and outgoing, a people-person who maintains professionalism and focusSound judgment and decision-making abilityDiscreet and tactfulAbility to maintain a flexible work schedule, including some evenings and weekends, for events and deadlinesHigh level of confidentiality, accuracy and attention to detail, as well as impeccable professional practiceManages time efficiently, self-motivated, and analyzes and solves problems independently and if necessary, collaborativelyAbility to work with a wide variety of people to achieve the goals of the MuseumPhysical Demands:Remain stationary up to six hours per dayOccasionally move packages up to 25lbsMove about the museum and officesCommunicate and exchange information with staff and external constituentsOperate computer and other office productivity machineryDisclaimer:The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
