Job Type Full-timeDescriptionUnder supervision of Department Director, or under direction of the Department Medical Director, or one of his physician delegates (ER Physicians), the EMT- Paramedic provides advanced life support transport and patient care. S/he teaches courses and performs various technical and routine duties within the "NM EMS Scope of Practice" utilizing knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, and protocols. S/he is flexible with work schedules and available for call.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSResponds to emergency calls, providing basic and advanced life support transport and patient careStocks suppliesWashes trucks, cleans bays and stationCompletes Run Reports and billingTeaches classes in BLS, ACLS, PALS, EMT-Basic and EMT-Intermediate, if appropriateAssumes responsibility for quality assurance and day-to-day shift operations when scheduled as (or in the absence of) "EMS 1 Medic", including, but not limited to:Coordinating daily shift activity and setting up transfersEnsure all shifts are coveredCarrying the EMS cell phoneActing as a liaison between EMS and House SupervisorEnsuring general duties and reporting are completedCompleting shift reportAct as float medicAdditional duties as assigned RequirementsEDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTSCurrent Nationally Registered Paramedic - PreferredCurrent license as an New Mexico EMT-Paramedic Critical Care Paramedic Course Completion Certificate or CCP Certification Preferred Current Basic Life Support (AHA)Current PALS CertificationCurrent ACLS CertificationValid New Mexico Drivers License at class "D" or aboveEVOC completed within 6 months of hire.Must meet insurance requirement to drive hospital vehiclesMust be able to pass a DOT physicalMust complete all EMS department training and orientation requirements within the initial employment period Note: Job description available upon request **All required documents must be presented at time of hire.** EXTERNAL APPLICANT: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
