Child Nutrition Assistant (Part-Time)

Position Title: Child Nutrition Assistant (Part-Time) Location: Tyrrell County Schools Reports To: Child Nutrition Director Work Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week (Monday-Friday, school calendar) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Benefits: This is a part-time position and does not include benefits. Position Summary: Tyrrell County Schools is seeking a dependable and hardworking individual to join our Child Nutrition team as a Part-Time Child Nutrition Assistant. This role supports the preparation and serving of meals to students in a safe, clean, and efficient environment while following all local, state, and federal guidelines. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals in the school cafeteria. Set up serving lines, portion food, and replenish items as needed. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment to maintain cleanliness and food safety standards. Clean and sanitize work areas, food prep surfaces, and equipment. Receive and store food and supplies properly according to safety and sanitation guidelines. Follow all safety procedures and comply with USDA meal pattern and portion requirements. Provide friendly and professional customer service to students and staff. Perform other duties as assigned by the Child Nutrition Director or cafeteria manager. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous food service or kitchen experience is a plus, but not required. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Must pass a background check and health screening as required by the district. Additional Information: This is a part-time position, approximately 20 hours per week. Work hours and location may vary based on school assignment and daily needs. This position does not include benefits.
