License: NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License Certifications: ARRT Certified R.T. (R), American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Must-Have: - Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and radiological positioning of the human body. - Understanding mechanical attributes of CT software and hardware. - Thorough knowledge of PACS system. - Team members must achieve ARRT (CT) certification within twelve months following the hire date. - BLS Certification within three months of hire date. Description: The CT Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques. They produce sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation. They assist with interventional and therapeutic procedures. The technologist performs complex CT procedures. They use professional judgment when reviewing and obtaining patient clinical history for procedures. They ensure information is documented and scanned into the required systems. They prepare, screen, and review the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with patients and family members. They verify the patient prescription to ensure appropriateness of the exam. If incorrect, they communicate with the Radiologist and Referring Physician for additional clinical information or a new prescription. The technologist is responsible for calling physicians to clarify prescriptions according to CT protocols. They verify insurance authorized exam scripts and send exam modification forms for re-verification. They are responsible for obtaining outside studies, scheduling them, and ensuring they are available for Radiologist comparison. The technologist provides exam copies to patients and requesting physicians or family members. They evaluate radiographs using the PACS System for proper identification and diagnostic quality. They use consistent techniques to gather relevant information to prepare protocols for scanning and patient safety. They determine whether the patient is properly prepared for the procedure. They prep the patient for scanning and determine appropriate types and doses of contrast to administer. They provide accurate explanations and instructions to patients in an understandable manner. They address and document patient questions and concerns regarding the procedure. The technologist performs venipuncture, maintains IV patency, and follows established guidelines. They monitor the patient's physical condition for any adverse reactions during the procedure. The technologist is responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends. They adhere to policies related to employee standards of attendance and punctuality. They lift a minimum of 25 lbs, push and pull 50 lbs, and stand for a minimum of 6 hours a day. They identify the needs of the patient population served and deliver care specific to those needs. They communicate effectively with patients and caregivers at their level of understanding. The technologist adheres to established competencies and behavior standards.
