License: Must be registered or registry eligible with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences. Certifications: Requires advanced certification in CT. All imaging specialists must maintain current competency in HCP BLS. Must-Have: - Completion of an accredited educational program in Radiological Science. - Must become registered within one year of employment and maintain registry status and continuing education requirements annually. Description: Conducts procedures and tests using Computerized Tomography (CT) equipment to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data. Uses professional manners and methods to verify patient identification. Obtains patient history and assists patients and family members that require extra attention. Ensures patient understanding whenever possible and guarantees patient safety. Verifies patient identification and documents pregnancy status for patients of childbearing age. Obtains images per protocols and manipulates images according to protocols. Performs multi-planar and 3D reconstruction of image data. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of CT algorithms and selects appropriate window and level settings according to anatomy. Administers oral contrast to adult and pediatric patients according to protocols. Establishes intravenous lines and administers IV contrast following safe and proper injection procedures. Follows correct procedures to determine contrast eligibility and checks appropriate lab values before contrast injection per protocol. Maintains a thorough understanding of PACS and transmits images to quality control. Verifies and segments images at the quality control station. Accesses service tools to verify image transmission and completes, modifies, and/or cancels orders in an appropriate and timely manner. Cancels duplicate orders to avoid duplicate billing and ensures that all charge information is accurate. Verifies patient identification in accordance with policy and ensures that all appropriate demographic information is accurate and on the PACS images. Performs tasks in a timely manner and runs the schedule, creating a consistent workflow. Volunteers to work on challenging tasks, difficult procedures, and new research. Produces quality diagnostic images and reviews patient charts and reports for correlation. Maintains a clean and orderly work environment. Creates and keeps documentation of incidents as improvement opportunities for employees and the department. Precepts new employees and students.
