The CT Technologist performs diagnostic testing according to established departmental procedures, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care. The CT Technologist performs diagnostic testing as directed by the physician at a competent technical level not requiring constant supervision. This position operates diagnostic equipment, including peripheral equipment, in a safe and efficient manner to obtain optimal test results. The CT Technologist manages the patient during the diagnostic procedure to meet patient care standards. This position ensures supplies are maintained and reports problems with equipment to the appropriate staff member. This position actively participates in and supports student clinical education activities where applicable. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.QUALIFICATIONSLICENSE/CERTIFICATION:BLS for Healthcare Providers requiredLicensed by the State of NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) requiredRegistered as American Registry of Radiology Technologist in Computed Tomography (CT) requiredEDUCATION:Graduate of an accredited radiological technologist school requiredEXPERIENCE:1-year diagnostic testing experience preferredCandidates must possess ability to multitask, with attention to fine detail in a fast-paced environmentProficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hireNJDEP State License expires every two years and must be renewed biennially to workARRT expires on incumbent's date of birth and must be renewed annually to workWORK ENVIRONMENTPotential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, potential injury, and hazardous substances, including electromagnetic radiation. Position requires the ability to stand a majority of the time; technologist performing MRIs require the ability to sit in front of a CRT monitor much of the time. Position requires extensive pushing, pulling and lifting of patients and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
