Position Summary:The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for monitoring patients' health, administering medications, providing nursing care, and ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients. Provide health care services to detox and program clients according to professional standards and The Salvation Army Harbor Light Programs Policies and Procedures.Essential Responsibilities:Manage all inquiries with regards to information, referral, and/or possible admission.Conduct pre-admission screenings of potential clients for detoxification services according to Harbor Light admission criteria.Conduct client admissions/discharges to detoxification and residential programs, including completion of all required medical documents.Perform hourly checks on detox clients to ensure safety.Assist with clean-up of bodily fluids as needed.Complete COWS/CIWA assessments as required by detoxification protocols.Perform instant urinalysis drug screenings.Provide general health care of clients which includes but is not necessarily limited to: a) administering and recording medications as prescribed by attending physicians, b) perform vital sign checks and document results.Facilitate health education groups as required by Site AdministratorTake appropriate action as directed by attending physician to ensure client's medical stability and in cases of emergency facilitate assistance per Harbor Light protocol.Assist Medical Director or designate in the provision of medical services.Collaborate with the treatment team to maintain order, discipline, and a substance-free environment.Attend all required staff meetings; training sessions, seminars, and/or workshops for staff development.Coordinate client medication needs with pharmacies.Ensure proper documentation including real time and daily inventory of controlled substances.Maintain records, charts, logs and all other pertinent data for the medical unit daily.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications: Education / Experience:Must have and maintain a current valid Practical Nurse (PN) or Registered Nurse (RN) licenseBasic life support (BLS) certificationExperience in substance abuse preferred Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Maintain strict client confidentialityPossess working knowledge of Occupation, Safety, and Health Administration standards and Universal PrecautionsComputer Skills:Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications and emailExperience with Electronic Medical Records preferredCertificates and Licenses: Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as neededMust have and maintain a current valid chauffeur license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR)The Salvation Army offers the following benefits:Health Care Benefits which include:MedicalDentalVisionHearingFlexible spending accountsAFLACVoluntary life insurance benefitsShort-Term and Long-Term Disability optionsPet InsurancePension contributions (currently 6.0% of your earnings) begin the first quarter after 1 year of employment.Vesting starts after three years of employment, 100% vested after five years of employmentThe Salvation Army also offers a 403(b) voluntary retirement savings plan in which you may participate immediately, with approved vendors.
