Position Summary
The Corporate Tax Manager is responsible for the quarterly and annual tax provision, financial statement reporting for income taxes, and the research, development, modeling, and implementation of tax strategies.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee federal, state, and municipal tax filings.
- Coordinate income tax compliance calendars and intercompany settlements.
- Review and approve estimated income and franchise tax payments.
- Prepare responses to external audit requests.
- Drive process automation and manage special tax-related projects with external advisors.
- Conduct monthly reviews of investment tax credit reports, federal income tax provision, actual vs. plan tax explanations, and tax account reconciliations.
- Perform annual reviews of federal and state income tax returns, municipal filings, personal property tax declarations, and reconcile deferred tax inventories.
- Assist in the tax-related aspects of the budgeting process.
- Lead various tax planning projects focusing on M&A, transfer pricing, accounting methods, acquisition strategies, legal entity rationalization, etc.
- Collaborate with third-party tax service providers to ensure accurate assumptions, data, and technical conclusions regarding tax strategies or positions.
- Monitor tax legislation and regulatory activities; assess and communicate their impact to stakeholders.
- Partner with other company functions including Finance, HR, Wealth, FP&A, Legal, and Treasury, and assist with tax withholding return filings.
- Manage monthly tax entries, interim and annual tax provisions, and related financial statement disclosures, ensuring understanding of ASC 740.
- Understand changes to the effective tax rate, income taxes payable, and deferred tax assets.
- Review ASC 740-10 (FIN 48) reserve calculations and footnote presentations quarterly and annually.
Education & Experience
Knowledge of:
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Federal and state laws and regulations.
- Tax preparation software.
- Excellent time and project management skills.
- Advanced research, tax technical, and data analytic skills.
Ability to:
- Learn and efficiently use tax reporting software.
- Coordinate communication and documents between departments.
- Analyze and interpret numerical data.
Education and Training:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics; CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant tax experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Smartsheet and OneSource tax software preferred.
Benefits and Compensation
Salary is based on duties, qualifications, experience, and market trends. The role may include bonuses or incentives based on performance.
Base Pay Range: $110,000 - $125,000/year
