Manufacturing Cost Accountant - Full-time
Location: California City, CA
Required Qualifications:
- Available to work a full-time position with pre-determined shift times.
- 3-5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, aerospace, and government contracting experience.
- ERP system experience.
- Spreadsheet and database capabilities; dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines.
- Self-starter with strong ethical standards; BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
- Proficient with spreadsheets and databases; ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment; attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures.
- Experienced organizational, written, and verbal communication skills; experience in manufacturing, aerospace, and defense.
Job Description
- Major responsibilities include inventory valuation and control, cost of sales, product margins, and cost analyses as required.
- The Cost Accountant is responsible for the cost system including system integrity, data collection, and margin analysis reporting.
- Perform all cost accounting activities including inventory valuation, cost of sales, product profitability, and cost ratio analyses, variance analysis, etc.
- Provide reporting and analysis including manufacturing productivity, capital budget review, budget and forecasting support, quoting support, as well as developing labor and overhead rates.
- Set standard costs of manufactured goods; develop and analyze cost standards; support Controller(s) as required for the monthly financial close to ensure timely financial reporting.
- Communicate and explain cost and financial performance results to a broad range of audiences; participate in the development of annual budgets and operating plans.
- Lead cycle count procedures, ensuring the accuracy of inventory records; validate revenue and cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close and forecast.
- Support other company accountants with invoicing and capital expenditure; effectively collaborate with staff at all levels from all departments including manufacturing, sales, engineering, and procurement.
- Analyze and lead improvement teams in relevant value streams and processes; support external financial audits on product costing and inventory valuation.
- Provide analysis to assist operational improvement initiatives, developing and maintaining key performance indicators (KPIs); provide analysis on capital expenditure projects.
- Adhere to all workplace safety guidelines, policies, and laws determined by the Company, state, and federal authorities; perform other duties as assigned.
