Infant Nutrition Technician and Tech II Position Summary:Responsible for the storage, preparation and delivery of all infant/pediatric formula, mother's breast milk, donor human milk and adult enteral feedings including blenderized feedings. Responsibilities:Adheres to all sanitary regulations and standards established by regulating agencies and Kootenai Health related to the Milk RoomInteracts with patient's parents, dietitians, nurses, physicians and other members of the patient care teamFollows the principles of aseptic techniqueMaintains a clean environment conducive to aseptic techniqueProperly handles HM and formulas to ensure safety and minimize wasteEducates parents/caregivers regarding the Milk Room and role in patient's carePerforms quality assurance tasks such as maintaining logs for equipment temperatures and DHM useFamiliar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular fieldRelies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsRegular and predictable attendance is an essential job functionPerforms other related duties as assignedCompetent to meet age specific needs of the unit assignedRequirements and Minimum Qualifications:Infant Nutrition TechHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredPreferred: Appropriate certification or college degree in relatable field i.e. Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, Human Milk Technician Certification, Clinical Laboratory or Human Tissue BankMust be able to read, write and perform necessary mathematical tasks at the high school level or above.ServSafe Certification, required within 30 days of hireComputer literacyMust be able to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.Infant Nutrition Tech II Associates degree from a dietetic registered program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Dietetics Education required OR related clinical degree requiredCDR Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) required OR related clinical license required Baccalaureate degree with completion of an accredited program in dietetics or coordinated Program in Dietetics preferred Experience working in hospital setting preferred Excellent math, computer and email skills are required Must be able to communicate effectively in written and verbal form ServSafe Certification required within 30 days of hireWorking Conditions: Must be able to maintain a sitting and standing position Must be able to stoop or crouchMust be able to see small print and markings on equipmentTypical equipment used in a clinical jobAbout Kootenai Health:Kootenai Health is a highly esteemed healthcare organization serving patients throughout northern Idaho and the Inland Northwest.
