About the Opportunity
A global leader in the healthcare manufacturing space is seeking a Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support and drive safety excellence across its Delaware-based production facility. This is a highly visible role supporting cross-functional teams and ensuring full alignment with internal policies and evolving regulatory requirements. Youll be instrumental in promoting a proactive EHS culture while advancing both compliance and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day execution and ongoing development of EHS management systems, ensuring alignment with corporate standards and federal/state/local regulations.
Conduct safety audits across multiple U.S. locations, identify gaps, and implement action plans that exceed basic compliance requirements.
Investigate workplace incidents, perform root cause analyses, and develop effective corrective and preventative actions.
Design and implement site-specific safety programs that reflect both industry best practices and organizational safety objectives.
Act as a central point of contact for EHS across the facility, supporting employee engagement and leadership accountability in safety.
Oversee hazardous materials and waste handling protocols, ensuring safe disposal and environmental compliance.
Support emergency response efforts including site-specific contingency plans and continuity strategies.
Deliver in-depth training programs covering safety practices, regulatory updates, and employee responsibilities.
Track EHS KPIs and present data-driven reports to leadership; use metrics to drive process improvements and culture change.
Mentor junior EHS professionals and support site teams with technical expertise.
Represent the site in absence of the EHS Manager, maintaining continuity in all safety operations.
Contribute to sustainability goals by supporting environmental initiatives like waste reduction and energy optimization.
What Youll Bring
Deep understanding of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT, and state/local regulatory frameworks.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels around safety objectives.
Hands-on experience with incident investigation, safety audits, and compliance tracking.
Proficient in developing and managing comprehensive EHS programs.
Skilled at communicating safety performance to cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership.
Self-starter with excellent time management and the ability to balance multiple priorities independently.
Experience with data analytics and safety software tools (e.g., EHS platforms, Microsoft Office Suite).
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred.
5-7 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing, medical device, or similarly regulated environment.
Proven track record leading regulatory audits, training initiatives, and risk reduction strategies.
