Responsibilities
The Monitor Tech is an unlicensed individual performing indirect care in the department. Responsibilities include monitoring cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac monitors, communicating effectively within the department, transcribing physician orders in the absence of CPOE and EMR systems, verifying lab and radiology orders and completions, preparing and maintaining records in the ER, ordering supplies, and preparing patient charts with necessary forms daily. Assisting nursing staff with indirect patient care duties is permitted as long as it does not interfere with primary responsibilities of dysrhythmia monitoring. Note: May provide direct patient care under RN supervision within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant, if the individual possesses active CNA certification, demonstrates annual competency, and is relieved of Monitor Technician duties during direct care activities.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Training
- High School Diploma or equivalent, or related experience required for all new hires (effective April 2014).
- Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate within 30 days of hire, and maintain current certification.
- Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire, and maintain current certification.
- Minimum of six months previous healthcare or Monitor Technician experience.

The estimated total compensation range for this role is $17.51 to $25.37, depending on factors such as skills, experience, education, and credentials. The exact starting salary will be determined at the time of hire.
