Selects the right equipment and techniques for treatment, measurement, or supplementation of the cardiopulmonary and circulatory system. Monitors, examines, and treats physiologic conditions safely under a physician's order and supervision.Essential Functions of the RoleMonitors the altered circulatory process, initiates appropriate action when abnormalities arise, and keeps surgeon and other team members informed.Ensures the sterility and integrity of disposable equipment packaging. Ensures correct setup and breakdown of all equipment.Monitors cell saver and operates the heart-lung machine, blood gas examination machine, clotting time/heparin analyzer, and cardiac-help devices.Mixes and administers drugs and solutions for extracorporeal circulation. Follows industry best practices and established policies and procedures.Adjusts gas flow and mixtures. Administers anesthetic agents, blood, drugs, and fluids via the extracorporeal circuit. This consistently results in safe and effective procedures.Records relevant perfusion information during surgery; evaluates and maintains records after surgery.Performs quality control/preventive maintenance to ensure accuracy and longevity of equipment.
