The Role:

  • Follow all policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety.
  • Inform patients about their exams to their understanding.
  • Ensure patient clearance for contraindications and hazards.
  • Accurately position patients and ensure their comfort.
  • Maintain visual and verbal contact during exams.
  • Perform scans according to protocol.
  • Administer intravenous contrast.
  • Complete all exam-related forms.
  • Record patient data accurately.
  • Provide and issue films/CDs as appropriate.
  • Forward data or films/CDs to Radiologists.
  • Assist clerical staff as needed.
  • Clean and resupply equipment and rooms.
  • Adhere to licensing and credentialing policies.
  • Contrast administration as required.

The Skills:

Requires prior MRI scanning experience, MRI/ARRT/CPR certifications, and excellent interpersonal skills. Additional requirements include:

  • Sitting and using a computer for extended periods.
  • Assisting patients with mobility difficulties.
  • Participation in call schedules at some locations.
  • Pushing, pulling, and lifting at least twenty-five pounds.
